Outreach and fundraising
Every Halloween and Christmas my wife (the other Dr. Gaudry) and I set up a light show set to holiday themed music. After a particularly moving lecture by Dr. Kathy Warren (NIH) in my Diseases of the Nervous System course, we decided to use the light show to collect donations to help fight childhood brain tumors. Via a partnership with DefeatDIPG, our lights have raised several thousand dollars to help fight dreaded pediatric brain tumors. If you are ever in the Bethesda area (at NIH perhaps) during the holidays, please stop by to enjoy the show and consider making a donation to this great cause!
The Time Warp!
A fun tribute to the Rocky Horror Picture show. See, learning to solder all of those LEDs for optogenetic stimuli does have real world application!
